Arby’s Charity Tour North Carolina Triangle
Raises $62,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Durham & Orange Counties and YMCA Big Brothers Big Sisters
RALEIGH-DURHAM, NC; May 25, 2005 –The inaugural Arby’s Charity Tour North Carolina Triangle announced it raised $62,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Durham & Orange Counties, YMCA Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Arby’s Foundation through a golf tournament, auction and fundraising program in local Arby’s Restaurants.
On May 23, over 80 enthusiastic golfers “teed-off” at Treyburn Country Club for the golf tournament. The tournament was followed by a live auction and awards ceremony. Former Major League Baseball All-Star and World Series Champion Ron Reed was the guest emcee.
Host franchisees of a combined 24 Arby’s Restaurants in the Raleigh-Durham area include RTM Southeast and RKRB, Inc. Both operators agree that the Arby’s Charity Tour demonstrates their commitment to the Raleigh-Durham community. “This year’s tournament was a success for both RTM Southeast and RKRB, Inc as it accomplishes our goal of maximizing fundraising and helping educate consumers about Big Brothers Big Sisters and the positive effects of youth mentoring,” says Rick Wriggelsworth, President of RKRB, Inc.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Durham & Orange Counties and YMCA Big Brothers exist to strengthen the single-parent family by providing one to one friendships for children who may need additional positive role models to enrich their lives. Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is about sharing simple, magical moments with a child. Each of us has had a special person in our lives that opened doors and widened our horizons on the world. By being that special person, mentors not only change a child’s life, but also their own.
In 2005, the Arby’s Charity Tour is celebrating its 10th season of Making a Difference in the lives of America’s youth. The Arby’s Charity Tour is a series of golf tournaments and special events held throughout the United States to raise awareness and funds for local Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies, the Arby’s Foundation and other youth mentoring organizations. Since its inception in 1996, the Arby’s Charity Tour has raised more than $16.5 million for youth mentoring associations across the country. For more information, visit www.act-tour.com.
